Professionalism

Posted at 11:23 pm

In the relentless pursuit of stardom for Stewart on behalf of society as a whole I have undertaken the grave responsibility of improving my golf game.  As his agent this is no menial task for me as it is pivotal for securing deals and building professional relationships.  So, I started today.

I played a game at Gordon Lakes here in Augusta, GA.  It is a beautiful course in a great golf town at a superb price.  A colleague and I rented a cart, light up some cigars (which, by the way, according to the surgeon general: are not a safe alternative to cigarettes and may also lead to lung cancer and related health problems)  and set out.  I’d like to take a moment to caveat that the Stewart Adams Project does not endorse smoking unless you are on fire and in that case strongly encourages taking appropriate action to extinguish said fire and/or call 911.  However, in the agent world it is a harsh reality, ‘nough said.

After talking with some experienced golfers to gather information I set a personal goal for myself of swinging in the mid-90s for a solid start.  After playing through I was very pleased with myself for achieving a score in the mid-80s!  I’ll skip the actual course of events, but come to find out that was for 18 holes, not the 9 I played.  I don’t think I will elaborate.

In all of this I did gain a few things:

1. A resolute commitment to get better.

2. Not giving up isn’t always the best thing.  People don’t like it when you try and hit a ball that is 2 feet under water when they are standing near you.

3. Yelling “fore” is a very good thing to do before you put a rocketing line-drive 3 inches over the roof of someone’s cart.

4. The beverage cart doesn’t run on Wednesdays.

5. Trees are golf-ball proof.

6. Before swinging, ensure the head of your club is not going to come off.

7. Remove your favorite fleece pullover before you turn in your cart.

With those things considered, it was a succesful trip.  Next time will be even better. Who wants to come with me?

“Best Job in the World” Top 50

Posted at 10:09 am

Greetings my friends, as some of you may already know, IslandReefJob.com posted their shortlist of the top 50 candidate applications for the ‘Best Job in the World’ yesterday. As you may have noticed, my video submission was not included in this list…
Do not weep for me dear reader, I’m sure that Tourism Queensland wanted to promote a tight race and healthy competition for this job rather than have one lone candidate cleaning the proverbial clocks of the other 32,000 applicants. It would make for a pretty boring marketing campaign if the battle was decided before voting had even begun so for that I bear no ill will toward Kangaroos, Barrier Reefs, or the continent of Australia as a whole. I enjoyed making the video and I hope it brought Joy and warm feelings to all who partook of its radiant audio/visual glory.

Spoiler Alert

Posted at 9:02 am

With the steady and rapid flow of information that is now at our fingertips anytime we want it, a new term has been birthed known as a ‘Spoiler Alert.’ In simple terms, a spoiler alert is a signifier put before a (usually) literary or creative work that the author/artist has determined to be sensitive material to some of those who wish to remain ignorant of its existence or details. In other words, for me to put a spoiler alert on this blog post would mean that I am putting forth information that the readers don’t want to know…yet, I write the blog post anyway? It’s like having a heard of cattle and asking if your entire town wants free steak, they collectively shout ‘No!’ (for whatever reason) but then you proceed to shoot and kill all the cows – without refrigerator space to hold all the meat.

Aside from the purely evil actions of the author for even posting such information, doesn’t some of the responsibility land on reader who strives to be more and more ignorant? If you’re reading a movie review…expect to read some details about the movie. If you’re so concerned about having the movie ‘spoiled’ then don’t read the article. People don’t seem to have any problems with watching movie trailers (the ultimate spoilers) but if you mention anything about how Titanic ends, people get all upset.

On the other hand, I can see how an avid movie watcher would want to experience the movie in person as a movie and not as black and white text penned by some nerd with a ninja turtles action figure collection. The cinematic experience is hard to duplicate on paper but I still contend that the reader cannot have his cake and eat it too. You can’t expect the world to cater to preserve your every little ignorance, you want to be sure a key plot twist never enters your brain? Then don’t browse film websites, don’t show up at the theater until after the previews, never talk to anyone, lock yourself up in your room, etc. Another option is to just enjoy the fact that you know what’s going to happen before your friends do.

Keeping Stardom in the Black

Posted at 8:54 pm

When in the course of a great social experiment, one must use all channels of communication conceivable to attain that hallowed benchmark of stardom. However, as our world runs some of those channels require a financial base to use to their full potential. As the agent for the world-renowned Stewart Adams, I have the unparalleled privilege of making his rise to stardom economically feasible. To this end, I am now reporting to our essential and appreciated public the progress of these efforts. Currently:

1. We are working on filing articles of organization to become an LLC in the state of Georgia. This will allow us to:
2. Get a Federal tax ID, which will allow us to:
3. Open a Business Savings and Checking account whereby we may begin our:
4. Investments in Stewart Adams Project merchandise, i.e. t-shirts, hats, bumper stickers, business cards, flyers, promotional events, etc. and
5. It will allow us to have a verified PayPal Merchant account whereby we can accept payments for said merchandise and donations by those industrious and generous souls with a concern for the cause.

And as always I have the joy of contributing to the many projects of the project.

Take care!

SA Project Weekly Update – 7/20/07

Posted at 7:45 am

Greetings everyone, quite a few things to cover in today’s update so let’s get to it.

New photos are up on the Flickr gallery, many of these you may have already seen them somewhere on our vast collection of networks but we’re moving toward having all of them in one simple place for easy viewing and browsing.

Stewart has started writing the script for the next SA Project video, without giving away too much information it can be confirmed that the video will delve into the idea of fame through consumer products and celebrity endorsement; more on that to come later.

A deadline has now been set for the website to be completely finished, once this goal has been reached we will begin contacting news outlets such as radio, TV and print to promote the project and get more exposure through the modern media. If any of you have connections that would prove helpful in this regard please contact us at stewartadamsproject@gmail.com.

We received a message from a prominent MySpace account last week indicating that they had added us to their top friends list for the sole purpose of getting the project more exposure.  If you would be comfortable adding The Stewart Adams Project to your top friends list it would be a very easy way to help spread the word and would allow us to reach a larger audience.

Lastly, if anyone has any connections with heads of companies or organizations that would be interested in sponsoring the Stewart Adams Project in ANY way please let us know.  It doesn’t have to be monetary sponsorship, if they’re willing to make a statement, send out an email, etc. Any help would be appreciated so let’s all pool our networking connections and get this thing rolling!

SA Project Weekly Update 7/13/07

Posted at 4:59 pm

Today’s update is meant mainly to bring something to your attention that has already been in place for a while but has not received much participation from the Stewart Adams Project community.  The website I speak of is called Frappr.com

To put it simply, Frappr is a mapping service that allows people to view a visual and geographical representation of their social network.  If you have friends all over the world for example, they can put themselves on your map and you have the pleasure of seeing how far your influence and friendship actually reaches in the sense of linear distance.  For the purposes of the SA Project, it is a map showing how far and how fast the project is growing.  We would love to be seeing little dots show up all over the country and even the world, but like most things, this will require your help and involvement.  So add yourself to the SAP map if you haven’t already and get your friends to as well.  As a bonus feature, the Frappr maps can be embedded into any HTML space on your network sites and web sites. Happy Friday the 13th!

SA Project Weekly Update – 7/6/07

Posted at 6:47 am

So this week’s update is a little late, this is partly due to the fact that Stewart has been subdued for the past week recovering from oral surgery that rendered him wisdom toothless.  It is also due in part by the fact that the project team held a planning meeting on Friday and we figured we’d just include the results of that meeting in the week’s update.

So here we go:

We have a list of bugs that need to be worked out on the website, at the meeting we started on this list and made the following changes:

01. The website now has an icon associated with it that will show up in your browser’s address bar next to the URL.  The icon set includes the following images:

02. The Stewart Adams Project Blogger site has been added to the list of networks. Blogger is basically a simple but useful blog hosting site that will house the same updates listed on the website.

03. In order to facilitate easy viewing, searching and archiving of  the project’s many photos, a Flickr account has been set up and added to the list of networks.  You can view what we have up so far by clicking here.

SA Project Weekly Update – 6/29/07

Posted at 10:34 am

Here is a quick update on what’s happening lately with the project:

~ First off, we apologize if anyone had any problems with the HTML code for the web buttons, the problems should be resolved now so stick those buttons anywhere and everywhere there is HTML. This is a very easy way for you to help spread the word as well as add stylish graphics to your web space.

~ We were told a few weeks ago that due to budget concerns, the issue of Talon Magazine that was to feature our article had been canceled. We received an apology from the Talon staff and started looking into other possibilities. This week however, we received an email stating that there is a chance that the issue will be published after all. So nothing is for certain yet, but keep your fingers crossed. If the article is published it will add legitimacy to the project and open the door for objective parties to write a Wikipedia article about Stewart and the project.

~ In order to pace ourselves and also keep you all in the loop, we are going to attempt to update the blogs every week on Friday. It is a possibility that we could post more often than this or less often. It is also possible that we eventually run out of content to post on said blogs, so email us your ideas, connections, and stories about how you’re contributing to the project. Remember, this thing can’t go very far if no one knows about it.
